Why Rachel
Rachel Nannen McGinnis
Hi there! I’m Rachel—a Certified Pet Nutrition Coach, lifelong pet-store kid, and passionate believer that better nutrition can make a real difference in the lives of our pets.
My story began long before certifications and consultations. I grew up in my family’s pet stores, and by the time I was six years old, I was standing on a milk crate behind the counter helping customers (or at least thinking I was helping 😉). What started as childhood afternoons spent surrounded by dogs, cats, birds, fish, and the wonderful chaos of a neighborhood pet store became a lifelong career and passion.

For more than 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping pet parents navigate the ever-changing world of pet nutrition. In 2008, my husband and I became owners of award-winning independent pet stores in Florida, where I’ve worked with thousands of pet families facing everything from itchy skin and digestive issues to food sensitivities, weight struggles, and simply trying to understand what all those labels on the pet food aisle actually mean.
I know firsthand how overwhelming the pet health world can feel. One expert says one thing, another says the opposite, and suddenly you’re wondering if you’re doing everything wrong. After spending my entire life in the pet industry, one thing has remained true: the best nutrition plan is the one that works for the individual pet and the family who loves them.
As the proud pet mom to four dogs with their own personalities, quirks, and nutritional needs, I understand that real life matters. My approach is simple: meet pet owners where they are, remove the guilt and confusion, and create realistic, sustainable changes that help pets feel their best. I believe in progress over perfection, education over fear, and empowering pet parents to make informed choices with confidence.
Whether you’re dealing with allergies, digestive concerns, picky eating, weight management, or you’re simply looking to give your pet the best life possible, I’m here to help you sort through the noise and find a plan that works - for both you and your pet.
